Why you have to do these things before you go to bed - Part 2

Remember how we told you to remove your makeup before going to bed in Part 1How did it go? Is your skin looking and feeling more glowy and refreshed? We’re back, to provide you with a few more products and tips to give your skin some extra love before you go to bed.

There’s been plenty of hype around serums but, what are they really? Serums are the step in your skincare routine that comes after cleansing but before moisturising. They are especially useful for targeting specific skin types and concerns as the product deeply penetrates the skin, providing high concentrations of active ingredients. Here are two of our favourite serums from The Ordinary:

The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 - Shop Here

Heading into summer, we all know our skin needs a little bit of hydration, especially after being out in the sun all day. Hydration is key to achieving dewy and glowy skin. Apart from moisturising, a great product for hydration is hyaluronic acid. It can be used on all skin types and holds up to 1000 times its weight in water! The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid is best applied to a damp face after your cleanser and toner. The treatment will draw the moisture into your skin, leaving your skin looking and feeling smoother and plumper.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - Shop Here

If you have unwanted dark spots, acne scars, or textured skin, a niacinamide serum is for you. Whilst these can fade over time, niacinamide can help to renew and restore the surface of the skin. The Ordinary’s Niacinamide is loaded with vitamin B3, which helps to gently brighten marks and scars over time as well as improve the texture of uneven skin. We recommend this product over retinol or salicylic acid because it’s much more gentle on sensitive skin. On top of this, the product can be incorporated into your skincare routine both morning and night!

Spot treatment

Pimples and dark spots are completely normal. So, if you’ve noticed the onset of a pimple, don’t panic and resist the urge to pop it!. Popping pimples breaks the skin barrier, opening up a wound that becomes susceptible to infection. This can lead to further breakouts and even acne scars. Here are a couple of our recommendations for the best spot treatments to combat those pesky pimples.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Acne Spot Treatment - Shop Here

This product contains benzoyl peroxide, which is a chemical ingredient that consists of antiseptic properties. This makes it perfect for tackling acne-causing bacteria and treating inflamed blemishes. La Roche Posay’s benzoyl peroxide acne spot treatment deeply penetrates the pores, targeting blemishes, pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. Apply this product after cleansing and before moisturising to see rapid results.

Cosrx’s Acne Pimple Master Patches - Shop Here

These pimple patches are loaded with hydrocolloid, which is a gel typically used for wound dressings and has water-absorbing properties. It works by sealing in the pimple, protecting it from further bacteria and dirt, and retaining the moisture inside. This product reduces redness and inflammation and is best worn overnight to allow it to work its magic while you sleep.
